The name "Ranganathar" translates to "head of the meeting place" in Tamil. This form of Vishnu, depicted reclining on Adishesha (the five-headed serpent), is prominently featured in the Srirangam Temple in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The wood-carved representation of Ranganathar captures this divine posture with a refined and elegant craftsmanship.

Also known as Arranganathar, Ranga, and Thenaranganathan, Ranganathar is revered with his consort, Goddess Lakshmi, who is called Ranganayaki. The reclining position of Lord Ranganathar reflects the majestic form of Adishesha, one of the principal deities in Hinduism.

The surrounding carvings include representations of Lord Naratha, Lord Indra, and various sages. On either side of the reclining Ranganathar are the Shanku (conch) and Chakra (discus), his powerful attributes against evil forces. This piece is an exquisite addition to any home.
